Good morning my lovelies, thank goodness its Friday I'm sooooo tired I feel like I've been back at work for a year not a week. Anyway as it is Friday that means there is a fab new challenge over at Graph'It Colour Challenge and this week we've got a really fun theme, we want to see your background effects! You don't have to use Graph'It Markers, any alcohol markers will do and as always there is a fab prize up for grabs so hop on over to the challenge blog and find out more (while you're there have a peek at my teamies fantastic background effects, as always they've come up with some amazing creations!)
For my project I had a play with Graph'It markers, acetate and Mix'it fluid spray and created a background effect on an acetate overlay. First things first though, I coloured the supercute image (from the Polkadoodles CD 'Here comes Christmas' with my Graph'It markers (for a full list of all the colours pop on over to the challenge blog) and matted it on some blue card.
To create the background I printed the image again on some copier paper but flipped it horizontally in my graphics programme (this means you can work on the reverse of the acetate and it will work out the right way round when you pop it on your image - not sure if that makes sense but I know what I mean lol). Lay the acetate over your flipped image and you're away
Next I took my yellow marker and used the chisel tip to colour the light from the lamp on to the acetate. Then I added the blue sky, again using the chisel tip. Now comes the fun part, take the Mix'It spray and lightly mist the acetate in a sweeping motion and in a second or two you'll see the snowy effect emerge. It dries in a matter of seconds. I then sprayed a little of the Mix'It spray on some kitchen roll and wiped around the edges. If you make a mistake, the Mix'It spray will let you wipe the ink right off the acetate, just let it dry for a few seconds and you can have another go
I attached the background overlay with a couple of eyelets and added some ribbon and a flower from my stash with a little gold stickles and a dew drop in the centre
I'm entering this project in the following challenges:
CRAFT: Christmas
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas: get inky or painty
One Crazy Stamper: Christmas
Penny's paper crafty: spooled items
thanks so much for visiting today, if you like this image make sure you enter my blog candy where there are loads of gorgeous Polkadoodles goodies up for grabs!
