Spring Delights at Graph'It Colouring Challenge

Good morning my lovelies, are you ready for the weekend? I certainly am, work has been a nightmare this week as we've been really short staffed but I've just got to muddle through today and I've got 10 days off! I'll be rushing home from work to start my holiday and also to watch the lovely Nikky Hall who's on C&C at 9am and 1pm with some fabulous new releases that you're not going to want to miss. There are some amazing new stamp sets, yes that's right .... new Polkadoodles stamps and they are lush!!

Anyway back to today's card which is my DT project for our 'Spring Delights' challenge at Graph'It Colouring Challenge.. I've chosen the second colour palette for inspiration for my card this week. I've used this gorgeous image from our sponsor Ching Chou Kuik, she's called Sunshine and you can find her here
I love to see the gorgeous backgrounds that people have created with their markers but I don't have a lot of patience so I've created a very quick background with my markers. Just scribble some shades of blue on a glass cutting mat, spritz with Mix'It Fluid and swoosh some glossy card stock through it for a lovely 'sky'. Then I roughly sketched in some grass and a few dots of pink/blue/lilac and lemon to create the effect of flowers! Easy peasy :-)

I've stamped the sentiment (from Indigo Blu) with Bahama Blue Memento Ink and added some little AB gems in the corners before matting and layering with white and pale blue card.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Ching Chou Kuik Digital Stamps: Easter/Spring colours
Crafty Creations: Spring Fever
Crafty Enjoyments: Easter or Spring
Petal Lu: Anything goes
Sparkles Forum: Make it girlie

Thanks so much for visiting today, hope to see you again soon

Graph'it Colouring Challenge

Good morning folks, its inspiration week at Graph'It Colouring Challenge and our theme is 'Autumn/Christmas colours' so there's loads of scope for you to play along to be in with a chance of winning a fabulous prize! There's a $6 voucher for digis from Little Miss Muffet, 3 images from Oddball Art and a set of Graph'It Markers from the lovely people at Cult Pens too! Wow I wish I could enter lol. You don't have to use our markers to play along, you can use pencils, markers, inks etc!

For my DT project I've made a card using this gorgeous image from Little Miss Muffet, she's called Polkadot Pals Rosalie. For a full list of colours used, pop over to the challenge blog!

I've sat Rosalie on a couple of pumpkins from the fabulous Autumn/Fall digi bundle from Polkadoodles and added some ribbon, and a sentiment and bunting from the same digi bundle.

I created the background with my Graph'It markers too, its a really fun technique. Just scribble your marker on a Mix'It Palette and use a paint brush dipped in a little Mix'It Fluid to squiggle in a cloudy sky. I've used black and orange for a spooky sky and added a little Silver Graph'It Shake pen for some sparkle.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Allsorts: no designer paper
Aud Sentiments: Halloween
Crafty Calendar: Halloween
Dream Valley: Halloween

Background Effects at Graph'It Colour Challenge

Good morning my lovelies, thank goodness its Friday I'm sooooo tired I feel like I've been back at work for a year not a week. Anyway as it is Friday that means there is a fab new challenge over at Graph'It Colour Challenge and this week we've got a really fun theme, we want to see your background effects! You don't have to use Graph'It Markers, any alcohol markers will do and as always there is a fab prize up for grabs so hop on over to the challenge blog and find out more (while you're there have a peek at my teamies fantastic background effects, as always they've come up with some amazing creations!)

For my project I had a play with Graph'It markers, acetate and Mix'it fluid spray and created a background effect on an acetate overlay. First things first though, I coloured the supercute image (from the Polkadoodles CD 'Here comes Christmas' with my Graph'It markers (for a full list of all the colours pop on over to the challenge blog) and matted it on some blue card.

To create the background I printed the image again on some copier paper but flipped it horizontally in my graphics programme (this means you can work on the reverse of the acetate and it will work out the right way round when you pop it on your image - not sure if that makes sense but I know what I mean lol). Lay the acetate over your flipped image and you're away

Next I took my yellow marker and used the chisel tip to colour the light from the lamp on to the acetate. Then I added the blue sky, again using the chisel tip. Now comes the fun part, take the Mix'It spray and lightly mist the acetate in a sweeping motion and in a second or two you'll see the snowy effect emerge. It dries in a matter of seconds. I then sprayed a little of the Mix'It spray on some kitchen roll and wiped around the edges. If you make a mistake, the Mix'It spray will let you wipe the ink right off the acetate, just let it dry for a few seconds and you can have another go

I attached the background overlay with a couple of eyelets and added some ribbon and a flower from my stash with a little gold stickles and a dew drop in the centre

I'm entering this project in the following challenges:
CRAFT: Christmas
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas: get inky or painty
One Crazy Stamper: Christmas
Penny's paper crafty: spooled items

thanks so much for visiting today, if you like this image make sure you enter my blog candy where there are loads of gorgeous Polkadoodles goodies up for grabs!
