Hearts and flowers

Good morning folks, well we've got blue sky and sunshine here at the minute but its frrrreeeeezing cold out and we're forecast snow for tomorrow eeeeeek! I'm trying to motivate myself to move away from the TV and take the dogs for their morning walk but I think another coffee is needed to give me a caffeine boost this morning lol. Today's project is a little wooden heart I've decorated for Valentine's day.

I sloshed on a basecoat of white acrylic paint and then dry brushed some baby pink and dove grey paint over the top. One that was dry I stamped the Indigo Blu rose stamp, masked it and stamped it again to cascade down the side of the heart. I masked the roses and stamped the background image with flitterglu and added gilding flakes. Next came Maimeri light modelling paste applied through my trusty harlequin Crafters Workshop template. Once that was dry I added some more gilding flakes.

The images are coloured with promarkers, i wasn't sure if they'd work on wood and paint but no problem at all, I just gave them a scribble on some scrap card when i'd finished to make sure there weren't any bits of paint etc on the pen nib.

To finish off I've added some little butterflies using Chocolate Baroque stamps, embossed with gold EP on acetate with stickles on the back. I've added some tiny faux pearls for the butterflies bodies and a scrap of lovely pink ribbon from Linda at the Funkie Junkie Boutique. Here's another pic to show the dimension of the butterflies wings. The photos have really mucked up the colours, they look a very bluey pink but in real life the colours are much warmer.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Crafts 4 Eternity: Be my valentine
Charisma : love
Craft Room Challenge: Hand made embellishments
In the pink: Pink valentine/romance
Ribbon Carousel: love is in the air
The Play Date Cafe: cranberry, raspberry and petal

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, I hope you're having a good weekend
