Sew What at Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Hi there folks, I hope you're having a lovely Easter weekend. I don't really celebrate Easter but it's bliss to have 4 days off work lol. My project today is for our new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges where the theme (chosen by yours truly) is 'Sew What' so we want to see your sewing themed projects, stitching real or faux etc. Of course we're a stamping challenge so don't forget you need to use clear/rubber stamps ... no digis allowed. As always there's a voucher up for grabs from our generous sponsors Flonzcraft so its well worth playing along.

I've made an 8x8 canvas for my DT project. I began by sticking on some pretty scraps of bp and some torn up sewing patterns onto my canvas with matte medium before applying a wash of watered down gesso. I applied some texture paste through a stencil and then applied a rough layer around the edge and left it to dry.

Next i got busy with my die cutting machine, scraps of cream and kraft card and heap of Sizzix dies to create lots of embellies for my card. The flower are made with layers of polkadot tulle and crinoline fabric (from The Funky Junkie Boutique) that I coloured with Victorian Velvet Distress stain. I coloured the rest of the die cuts with Victorian Velvet and then stamped here and there with a Chocolate Baroque script stamp before distressing the edges with a little Vintage Photo distress ink.

I took scraps of embroidery floss to wrap round the cotton bobbins, added some lace, ribbon and buttons. Next I popped on the trellis and the dress form. To create the 'dress', I simply wrapped the polkadot tulle around the die cut dress form and taped it at the back, making a little ribbon 'belt' to go around the waist.

The focal image is one of the gorgeous Gibson Girls from Flonzcraft, stamped with Sepia versafine and die cut her with a spellbinders die. To finish off I used little pearls to fix the cotton in place and added some little die cut hearts too.

I'm entering this project in the following challenges:

Altered Eclectics: anything goes mixed media
Country View Crafts: use kraft card
Creative Knockouts: die cuts or punches
Frilly and Funkie:  put a ribbon on it
Noor Designs UK: anything goes
Rhedd's Creative Spirit: anything goes
Stamps and Stencils: anything goes
The Vintage Challenge: use beads or pearls

Thanks for visiting today, have a lovely Easter Sunday
Claire xx
