Experimenting with distress markers

Hi there, no card to share today as i've been busy with some DT projects but I've been experimenting with my scrummy new distress markers so I thought i'd share the results with you. The full sets of markers are so difficult to get hold of but I managed to get a set at a great price from Chocolate Baroque . I've tried different types of card and used the markers direct to the stamp and to watercolour each image. Its amazing how much the type of card influences the finished result as you can see. 

The top pic shows the image stamped and watercoloured on Southfield white 300gsm card and on Southfield pearlescent card (love this stuff its more twinkly than pearlescent - gorgeous). The bottom pic shows the results on watercolour paper and Rangers new stamping card. 

I used the same colours on the stamp for each one but the finished images are so different, I'm not sure which is my favourite to be honest, I think they'll all have different uses according to the type of project. The gorgeous little birdy stamp is from Chocolate Baroque's 'Pretty Birdcage' stamp sheet.

Springtime challenge at PanPastel UK

Hi and Happy Sunday, my favourite day of the week :-) Its also a brand new challenge at PanPastel UK where our theme this week is 'Springtime'. You don't have to use PanPastels to enter but its great to see that more and more people are starting to use Pans :-)

For my card I've used lots of Diarylide and Hansa Yellow on my base card and then sprayed with Daffodil glimmer mists. Once the background was dry I added faux pearls around the edge with cosmic shimmer glue. I sprayed some crinoline fabric with glimmer mist and added a weathered clock die cut that I'd distressed with acrylic paint and distress ink.

I've used stamps from the Bluebird stamps from Artistic Outpost, I saw these stamps on Yvonne's blog a few weeks ago and had to have them, they are GORGEOUS!! I love to hear the birds sing, its one of my favourite things about this time of the year, yep even at 5am lol. Anyway I took a scrap of card and applied Diarylide yellow and Turquoise shade PanPastels. I used an eraser to remove the PanPastel from the flowers and brids and added colour with Coloursoft pencils.

I used Tattered florals and leaves for the flower, die cutting some waxed tissue paper and colouring again with Diarylide Yellow PanPastel. The centre is a little sparkly copper brad. To finish off i've added a big yellow satin bow and a couple of blingy pins from Crafty Boots.

Lace Fragments Altered bottle

Hi there, my project today is an altered bottle featuring a  beautiful lace flower from the new Lace Fragment stamps from Chocolate Baroque

I really enjoyed making this project. My son and his friends kindly emptied the bottle for me and once I'd washed it I gave it a generous coating of gesso. I used an assortment of pastel coloured acrylic paints from my stash to paint the bottle, making sure my brush was loaded with plenty of water to blend the colours together. Once this was dry I overpainted the bottle with pearl acrylic medium.  

I used air dry clay to make the central image, I stamped the lovely lacy flower into the clay and left the imprint to dry. Make sure you give your stamp a good wash to remove any excess clay.

I left the clay overnight to dry and painted it with distress inks before attaching it to the bottle with strong pva glue. 

I added some white raffia as a finishing touch and a couple of little paper roses.

Stitching challenge at Crafty Ann's

Hi there,  we've got a brand new challenge over at Crafty Ann's, this time we want to see stitching on your cards. As always our lucky winner will get their mits on a fabby prize from Crafty Ann's Digi Shop! I''m still out of action for colouring with my pain in the neck lol but i'd coloured this a while ago, isn't it a beautiful image?

Its Crafty Ann's 'Beautiful Hibiscus' it comes with the sentiment and I just love it! (you can find it here) I've coloured the image with promarkers and cut it out. The base card is covered with one of Crafty Ann's mottled stone backing papers, its a lovely delicate pink. I was very brave with this card and dusted off my sewing machine!! I stitched a border around the edge and then was even braver and added a line of embroidery to create a border across the card. I've added some rose pink velvet ribbon, lace and edged the card with faux pearls made with cosmic shimmer glue.

On the street where you live......

Hi there, I hope you're having a good week. I'm still off sick with my poorly neck and although its much better I still can't sit and colour with my trusty promarkers. Fortunately I can mess around with paint and ink without it hurting so at least I can craft :-)
Anyway back to business,  we've got a fab new challenge at Rainbow Lady's Challenge blog, the theme is 'On the street where you live' and there is an amazing prize up for grabs from our sponsor Laura at 'Thats Crafty', as our lucky winner will receive some scrummy Dylusions goodies!! Grrrrrr I wish i could enter lol

Anyway back to my project, I'm not sure about the finished product but I had loads of fun making it lol.

When i thought about the street where I live I thought of trees and birds and rain so I wanted to include them in my project

I created a background with lots of different colour distress inks and splashed it with water. The tree was made by adding a little water to some brown acrylic paint and letting it run to make the tree shape, I added some 'blossom' with mica flakes. 

I just drew the houses (after a fashion) and stamped them with text and coloured again with distress inks. 

The bird is a TH die cut, painted with black soot crackle paint, he looked a bit mean so i decided to give him a googly eye to make him look a bit more friendly. I wasn't happy with my watery rain so I added some more using a Crafters Workshop template and magitac paste, once it was tacky I brushed on lots of mica powders. I love the effect, you can see it a bit better in this pic. Much prettier than all the rain and hail we've had lately

To finish off I just added a few doodles with a black pen.

Challenge 25 at Christmas Challenges {with sketches}

Hi there, our new challenge over at Christmas Challenges with sketches is a fab sketch by my lovely teamie Wilma, pop over and have a look and while you're there have a look at the gorgeous cards my teamies have made. For my card I've used backing paper from Chocolate Baroques Season's Greetings cd and GDC Joyeaux Noel, both distressed with Tea Dye distress ink. The image is a beautiful angel stamp also from Chocolate Baroque, i've painted her with twinking H2os and die cut her using a circle die (she is actually a full length figure but I've used used her top half for this card). I've embellished my card with pearls, gems, ribbon lace and stamped the sentiment on a little acrylic tag.

A little haberdashery shop

Hi there, my card today uses the lovely new Haberdashery stamps from Chocolate Baroque. As soon as I saw these stamps I thought the accessories would look fab stamped on shink plastic. Its hard to see in the pic but I've used thimblies, pin cushion, scissors, cotton bobbins and balls of wool, stamped on shrink and coloured with distress stains.

I thought a little shop window would be a good way to show off my little Haberdashery bits and bobs. I began by using a Crafters Workshop template to create a brick effect. I swiped pumice stone distress ink over my card  and then applied the template. I began by sponging tea dye distress ink over the template and then adding some Vintage photo around the edges to give the bricks a  bit of dimension.

To make the window, I took some plain white card about 5cm wider than I wanted the window and cut out the window panes with  my craft knife and scored at 1.5cm in from each end and popped a square of acetate behind the window frames. I scored a line between the two window panes and added little pearls as handles . I used a scrap of paper from Prima Almanac collection for the background and added a couple of thin strips of card for the shelves and attached the shrink plastic bits and bobs with glue. To make the window I just attached each end of the card to the back of the prima paper using strong tape and as the card is bigger than the paper it makes a dinky little bow window. It looked a bit plain so I added some die cut strips created with Crealies dies.

To finish off I added lots of tiny paper roses around the window.

Add a flower at PanPastel UK

Good morning folks, don't you just love Sunday mornings? I do and they are even better when you don't have to go to work the next day lol. Anyway my card this morning is for our new challenge over at PanPastel UK where our theme is 'Add a flower'. My card was a bit of an experiment, I've used paint fusion techniques but used PanPastels instead of paint! I'm quite pleased with the effect

I used watercolour card and stamped the Sweet Pea Stamps by Sheena Douglass in Smoky grey versafine ink. I then used a generous layer of white PP before having a bash at paint fusion, I was chuffed to bits that it worked and it just goes to show how beautifully Pans blend to achieve this technique. I used I Sofft knife with a flat sock and double loaded the sponge with white and violet or magenta Pans for the flowers. For the leaves I used Bright Yellow Green shade and Permanent green shade. Once i'd finished I gave it a light spray with hairspray and added a little more definition to the leaves and flowers with Inktense pencils. You can see the detail a bit better in this pic

The background uses the same colours of Pans blended with lots of white. The swirls are from Chocolate Baroques Artistic Expressions themeplate, embossed with gold EP. I added some cream seam binding ribbon and some flowers made from Crinoline fabric (from Linda's Zibbet store, check out the link in my sidebar), die cut with Tattered florals and coloured with Pans.

Embossing at Fashionable Stamping challenges

Hi there, we've got a fab new challenge for you at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and this time my lovely teamie Avril has challenged us to use 'Embossing', either heat embossing or dry embossing. I've used a bit of both on my card but before I get to the deets don't forget to pop over to the challenge blog and find out about the fabby prize up for grabs from our generous sponsor Marina from Cottage Crafts. 

For my DT card I've used a beautiful new stamp from  Chocolate Baroque's Madonna stamp sheet which has sadly just been retired . I've stamped the image with black archival ink on ivory pearl card and embossed with black detail EP. You can see the detail better in this pic

The bp  is from Prima Almanac collection, distressed with a craft knife and matted on black card with faux black pearls around the edge. I've mounted the image on one of my favourite spellbinders lattice dies designed by Sue Wilson, I really love these dies!

I've used some gorgeous delicate black lace with chalk white seam binding ribbon threaded through it. To finish off i've added some prima flowers and a fabby acrylic cabochon with a seam binding ruffle around the edge. I just love these cabochons, they were a real bargain from ebay :-)

All dressed up and a chance to win!

Hi there, my card this morning features some of the gorgeous new stamps from Chocolate Baroque. There are 2 new sets of stamps Haberdashery and Lace Fragments and they are scrummy! 

These new stamps are fab and I think they're going to be one of my favourites. I had fun dressing up one of the dress form stamps with a little chiffon dress. The background was created using a resist technique - I stamped lots of the smaller stamps from Haberdashery with versamark and then applied lots of distress ink (Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet). The border is machine stitched. I've used the sentiment stamp on ribbon stamped with black stazon. 

The black lace was made by stamping one of the gorgeous lace borders on some tissue paper with black archival ink and pleating it as I applied it to a strip of double sided tape.

The little chiffon dress was really easy to make. I stamped and cut out the dressform and then took a couple of scraps of chiffon and stamped them with another lacy border (unfortunately it doesn't show up too well in the pic). To make the dress I just wrapped the stamped chiffon around the dressform using strong double sided tape to adhere it to the back of the image. To add a bit of bling I used a little crystal buckle on some narrow black ribbon. The dressform is layered up over a die cut stamped with another lace fragment.

Secret Garden

Hi there, my tag today is for the 'Secret Garden' Challenge at Dragon's Dream Tag It On. I've not been too well for the last few weeks and my mojo seems to have vanished but I couldn't resist getting my PanPastels out and playing along with this challenge

I've used stamps from Creative Expressions 'Lost Garden' stamps, I've added some colour with PanPastels as colouring really hurts my neck at the minute so I can't use pencils or promarkers. Trust me to get a pain in the neck lol. Anyway I was quite pleased with the detail I managed to create with a the dinky little socks that go with the sofft tools. 

I wanted my Secret Garden to look a bit dark and spooky but light outside (I know what I mean lol) so I used much lighter PanPastels for the foreground and then added lots of black and blue PanPastel for the sky. I added some swirls of darkness creeping out of the garden with black PP. I splashed on some drops of silver firework ink for the stars and added some green ribbon and black lace to finish off. A New challenge at Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog

Hi there its time for a new challenge at Rainbow Lady's Challenge blog and this time out theme is 'St Georges Day/English/Patriotic'

For my card I've used a striped bp from Raspberry Road Designs, printed on copier paper and scrunched up layered over some tissue paper that i'd coloured with antique linen distress stain. I've used stamps from Crafty Individuals and Creative Expressions and layered them up. The stamping is topped with some stamped seam binding and buttons with a couple of red bows to finish off. I had to give the rather grumpy looking chap a red bow on his hat, its not just to cheer him up lol, he had writing on his hat and it was in French so I had to cover it up to fit the challenge theme  :-)

One for the boys at PanPastel UK

Hi there, Sunday again so that means its time for a new challenge over at PanPastel UK and this week our theme is 'One for the boys'. You don't have to use PanPastels to play along but of course we love it when you do :-)

For my DT card I've created a seascape using PanPastels. As always I started with a layer of white PanPastel and then masked the sky before blending in Ultramarine blue, Turquoise shade, Phthalo blue shade with random horizontal stroked. I used a pencil eraser to create the waves and added deeper blues under the peaks of the waves.

I used Ultramarine blue and lots of white to create the sky and then added the cloud using white, paynes grey and a little yellow and magenta. To give the effect of rain I just dragged the sofft knife down from the cloud. 

The little lighthouse scene was stamped with rubber stamps from Chocolate Baroque on some white card, coloured with PanPastels and derwent pencils and cut out, I layered it up with silicone gel.

The background was made using Yellow Ochre Shade, Burnt sienna shade and a little Raw Umber shade and the shell stamps (again from Chocolate Baroque) were stamped with distress inks.

To finish off I added some shells and a nautical looking knot, I've no idea how I tied it but it looks a bit like a sailors knot lol

Its a man thing at Crafty Ann's

Hi there, today's card is my DT project for Crafty Ann's where the theme is 'Its a man thing' so I've used this fun image from Crafty Ann's with one of Ann's lovely tartan bps for my card

A quick and easy card as i'm still feeling under the weather. The image is coloured with promarkers and diecut with nestie. The sentiment reads 'Kick up your heels its your birthday' and comes with the image. I've jused added some lattice die cuts and a little red bow to finish the card off. Celebrating at Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog

Hi there, we're celebrating over at Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog this week as its our 200th Challenge, not only that but we've got the lovely Hels Sheridan as our Guest Designer this week!! How exciting is that? Anyway we're celebrating with a theme of Celebration with a touch of vintage and a fabby prize from our very own Rainbow Lady, Cynthia!

For my tag I've made a background with a snapdragon radiant rain dabber and added gold embossing through a Crafters workshop template. I've used stamps from Graphic 45, Chocolate Baroque and a clear 'celebrate' stamp that i've had for years. The circus characters are coloured with derwent pencils. I've added ribbon, lace and assorted fibres from my stash and made a twisted grungepaper rose.

I hope you're going to celebrate with us this week! Pop over and celebrate with Hels too as its the 200th birthday of the Sunday Stamper too.

Challenge #24 at Christmas Challenges {with Sketches}

Where did the last two weeks go?? At this rate it will soon be Christmas lol. For my DT card I've used the beautiful Pine Cone Fairy, a very old stamp from Joanna Sheen, she's coloured with derwent pencils and has a little glamour dust for some sparkle. The papers are from GCD and the pine cones were made with my new Tattered pine cones die. Ribbon, lace, pearls and buttons from my stash.

Its a bit of a short post from me today as i'm still not feeling well and the doctor says I've got shingles, ouch. Hopefully it will clear up soon and I'll be able to catch up with all my blogging buddies

Sweet Treats at PanPastel UK

Hi there, happy Easter!! I hope the Easter Bunny has been good to you and you've got lots of lovely treats. Our theme at PanPastel UK this week is 'Sweet Treats' so i've used some yummy chocolatey coloured PanPastels for my card

I created the background with Burnt Sienna Shade, Raw Umber Shade and Yellow Ochre shade and added the swirls from Chocolate Baroque's Artistic Expressions themeplate with flitterglu and gilding flakes. The egg was made using the same PPs and gilding flakes, the stamp is from Baroque Eggs. To finish off I've added some cream seambinding ribbon, dark brown velvet ribbon, a button, twine and a little charm.

Ahoy there, a nautical challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Hi there, we've got a fab new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and this time the theme has been set by the lovely Paula and she want's us to create project with a 'Nautical' theme. Of course we want to see some stamping too! As always there's a fab prize from  our generous sponsor Marina from Cottage Crafts . Right before i start, apols for the even dodgier than usual pics, we've had some very strange weather here lately and i've struggled to get enough light for a photo. I've made a wall hanging for my project using stamps from Joanna Sheen (the little cutie playing in the waves) and Sheena Douglass (all the other stamps are from Sheena). I stamped the images in black archival ink onto watercolour card and tore the edges before colouring with PanPastels. I used a rubber to create the waves and in the foreground I added some white acrylic paint and microbeaads to the waves. I stitched a wavy line around the edge with my sewing machine and layered it up on some kraft paper. This was layered on some torn corrugated card painted with watered down gesso and a little distress stains.  To embellish i've added shells,  a burlap hanger,  and some twine

For my card I've used this beautiful image called 'Rite of Spring' by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff, isn't it beautiful with all those gorgeous spring flowers? You can find her and loads more fab digistamps at Scrapbook Stamp Society

 I've coloured the image with promarkers and matted on some vintage pink coredinations card. The backing paper is Prima Madeline and to keep to the Butterfly kisses theme I've used a MS butterfly punch to create a border. I saved the little punched out butterflies and popped them on the image. To finish off I've added some ribbon and lace from my stash.
