Ahoy there, a nautical challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Hi there, we've got a fab new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and this time the theme has been set by the lovely Paula and she want's us to create project with a 'Nautical' theme. Of course we want to see some stamping too! As always there's a fab prize from  our generous sponsor Marina from Cottage Crafts . Make sure you pop over to the challenge blog and check out my teamies projects, they are such an inspiration.

Right before i start, apols for the even dodgier than usual pics, we've had some very strange weather here lately and i've struggled to get enough light for a photo. I've made a wall hanging for my project using stamps from Joanna Sheen (the little cutie playing in the waves) and Sheena Douglass (all the other stamps are from Sheena). I stamped the images in black archival ink onto watercolour card and tore the edges before colouring with PanPastels. I used a rubber to create the waves and in the foreground I added some white acrylic paint and microbeaads to the waves. I stitched a wavy line around the edge with my sewing machine and layered it up on some kraft paper. This was layered on some torn corrugated card painted with watered down gesso and a little distress stains.  To embellish i've added shells,  a burlap hanger,  and some twine

Here's another couple of pics to show the detail.

This pic shows the waves a little better:

I'm entering my project in the following challenges:
Crafty Boots: Nautical and/or red/white and blue
Joanna Sheen: Its a man's world
Paper Creations Ink: Natural materials
Scrap it with a song: Here comes the sun

Thanks for popping by
Claire xx

  5. How lovely this is Claire. The whole effect of the colours, stamps and colours with those natural shells gives this a seaside feel to it. It should be hanging in a wonderful, up-market beach hut somewhere.
I hope you have a lovely chocolatey Easter Sunday.
